You and I, together, are going to make Manchester even better!

2017 Primary Voters Guide for Manchester, NH - Manchester Ink Link →

Check out my answers to some hard-hitting questions at Manchester Ink Link

Union Leader asked me 3 questions

  • Union Leader: Do you support making Manchester a sanctuary city? Why or why not?
  • Me: I do not support making Manchester a sanctuary city. In case there is any confusion, the refugees in Manchester are legal immigrants. They are an asset to this community. That said, the Federal Government is leveraging funds to get Manchester to comply to their priorities. I do not appreciate that.
  • Union Leader: Do you support a tax cap override to fund salary increases for city and school district employees?
  • Me: No! The voters spoke clearly when they endorsed the tax cap. The budget is unsustainable as is. The salary and benefit packages given to city employees are competitive. However, if we can make significant cuts and truly innovate services, thus freeing up money, then measured compensation increases can be considered.
  • Union Leader: What is the top issue facing the city/schools, and how would you address it?
  • Me: The opioid crisis has affected our way of life (for example, the smoking ban, homelessness, property crimes, so on). I applaud the Fire Department for the Safe Station program. I agree with Chief Willard. We cannot arrest our way out of this. The city should focus on rehabilitation, not prosecution.

“Andre discussed the frustration that lead to his running for office. They spoke about the tax cap, political jargon, corruptness and more. Tune in to get the details!”

Letter to the Editor

Union Leader chose not to publish this, but this is a perfect letter to the editor about what I’m all about. Or maybe I missed it? A big thank you to Mark Warden.

Dear Editor:

In Manchester’s citywide elections next week, voters have a chance to vote for the status quo, which means ever-larger government and higher taxes, along with nonresponsive government services, or for fresh voices who will define priorities and demand accountability from city departments.

In the Ward 1 race for Alderman, we have just such a candidate, a man who will treat city residents and taxpayers as customers and who recognizes that there is always room for enhanced efficiency in local government: Andre Rosa.

I’ve known Mr. Rosa for years and he is just what we need on the Board of Aldermen to shake things up and think creatively, without being stuck in the past with “the way things have always been done.” Whether it’s staying within a budget, honoring the voter-approved spending cap, or thinking outside the box to attract new businesses to Manchester, he will be a bright, innovative force for the city.

Andre is bold and passionate, and he has smart, innovative ideas on improving city services and addressing some of the societal ills that currently plague the area. From taxes to school choice for parents to road maintenance to heroin use to inviting Uber rideshare services to our streets, Andre offers a creative approach to the issues, and is the right man for the job. He understands technology, and will bring that knowledge to the board. This is critical as the city embraces 21st-century technology to provide better services at lower cost.

While serving in the New Hampshire legislature for two terms, I learned what it takes to be effective in a governing body. Andre will be successful because of his strong principles, excellent communications skills, independent spirit and passion for serving the residents of Manchester. Please join me in voting for Andre Rosa, Ward 1 Alderman.

“With Think It Up, students and teachers develop projects that draw on the students’ passions and help them pursue their educational goals.”

Check this out teachers & parents! Is MSD telling you they just don’t have the resources for that awesome school project your students are just dying to start? Well, circumvent the bureaucracy and crowdsource your education needs!

Education, heroin, and results-driven governing are the subjects at hand.

I won my primary yesterday, and I’ve been decompressing today. It’s a very strange feeling to win in the game of politics. I couldn’t have done it without my supporters and their passion.

Onwards and upwards! The general election is a much higher and steeper mountain. Got lots more work to do before I actually transform into Alder Man

City Talk Roundtable on Girard At Large. We talk about drugs!

Had a great conversation with special host Victoria Sullivan

I got a truth bomb for you. Manchester is rotting from the inside. Burglaries, gangs roaming the streets, homelessness, an out of control heroin epidemic, stores closing up shop, failing schools. Our beautiful city is crumbling. It has lost its luster. But none of these problems are the causes in of themselves. These are symptoms of a corrupt City Hall. The problem is City Hall. The Zoning Board denies approval for drug treatment centers because “people like that don’t deserve to be near decent people.” Poor law making leads to expensive, frivolous lawsuits the city could have easily avoided. It’s called research and Google. And after a decade of unchecked spending, City Hall keeps overriding the tax cap. And now it’s bond crazy. We need to live within our means, and keep an eye on the bottom line.

Uber, an innovative company, a symbol of forward thinking, of a vibrant economy, kicked out of the city. They are operating right now illegally. And good for them! We need to innovate our laws, not throw out innovative companies. We have to make Manchester a welcoming city. We have create a place where businesses are welcomed, overhaul the regulations hurting Manchester businesses, remove the barricades, make the economy thrive.

We have to to nurture an environment where you can raise a family, and have your kids get that quality education they deserve. We have a problem when Manchester is losing our school contracts with Candia and Hooksett to Pinkerton Academy. Education matters. City Hall should be listening to the needs and concerns of the parents, the teachers, and especially the kids. It’s their education after all that we’re talking about here.

Let’s work together. That’s how you stop the drugs problem. That’s how you stop the crime, by making Manchester thrive, fill it with opportunities and second chances. This can’t be done with the same-old same-old. New, fresh, bold ideas. If you want that, and you want to feel pride once again in Manchester, support my candidacy for Alderman. Let’s get it done. Find me on Facebook, Andre Rosa for Alderman. Thank you

time for some door-to-door action!

I’m ready for my lit drop, Mr. DeMille
